QT Singapore is the luxury Aussie brand’s first Asian expansion

Australian-born luxury brand QT Hotels & Resorts has officially established its first-ever Asian expansion with the highly anticipated opening of QT Singapore.

The fresh-faced, 134-room luxury hotel brings QT’s eccentric aesthetic and penchant for whimsical, story-driven design to Singapore’s dynamic CBD. Located at 35 Robinson Road, the property is pushed as a more playful entry for Singapore’s strong luxury offerings, shaping the old Telegraph building with the brand’s famously theatrical mindset.

Given properties such as QT Sydney and QT Perth sit at the apex of luxury in Australia, QT Singapore is a strong entry for the hotel scene in Singapore. The five-star has already become part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World roster and reviews so far point to not only dramatic design, but also lavish amenities like Manhattan-styled steakhouse, Cygnet, and the leisurely Rooftop at QT with its massive pool and private spaces.

After elevating the food and drink offering at QT Sydney’s acclaimed Gowings restaurant, prolific chef Sean Connolly spearheads Cygnet with a commitment to provenance and top-shelf produce. This translates to a dedicated Steak Library offering prime cuts and a rich list of supporting dishes like Sean’s signature duck fat roasted potatoes. Value is also locked in with around 30 wines by the glass, exploring top regions alongside a more extensive selection of premium bottles from around the world.

The 17th-floor rooftop bar gets by with its open-air design and extensive drinks list complemented by Taqueria-style bar snacks. Unsurprisingly, it’s been one of the more noted elements of the hotel to date, quickly established as one of Singapore’s hottest new social haunts and one of the area’s few rooftop bars.

QT’s go-to designer, Nic Graham, has used the heritage building’s neo-classical facade to inform much of the interior design, working in plenty of colour with artistic bespoke furniture, smart lighting and print works by local artist Jill Tran. Materials used include woven rattan while features like double ceilings help add dimension and depth to the guest suites, split between Junior Corner, Balcony and Premier Suites.

The designers have also included luxury tech-forward amenities such as Dyson hair products, Chromecast devices and Bose speakers, as well as advanced smart lighting so guests have tighter control over their in-room experience. As per modern standards, there’s also an iPad so guests can turn their temporary digs into a fully-equipped smart room.

With walk-in rain showers and signature QT Dream Beds, it’s looking like QT have successfully sketched the group’s signature experience with Singapore’s high standards of traditional luxury and symbolic ambient details.
