Adonia

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1475210821741{padding-bottom: 5% !important;}”]Once a beautiful boutique hotel-style ship, P&O’s Adonia has made a grand change in its calling. Since April 2016, Adonia has become the soul vessel in the Fathom fleet, which offers volunteerism cruising with a social, economic and environmental agenda. Sailing regularly to Cuba and the Dominican Republic, Adonia offers excursions with immersion activities. The Dominican Republic itinerary includes reforestation activities and communal efforts such as flooring village homes and collaborating with a women’s co-op, while the Cuban itinerary includes installation of art exhibits and visits in locally run institutions, such as the botanical garden, where social and cultural exchanges are encouraged. Though highly focused on the social impact program, the journey, accommodation and amenities on board are no less than tose offered on a traditional cruise.

[fa type=”bed”] Accommodation

Cabins maintain their authentic British charm with the iconic tea kettles and a variety of provided teas available in all cabins. Each room has twin-to-queen beds, a sofa/armchair, a vanity/working space, flat-screen TV, mini refrigerator, and nightstands. With 355 cabins, Adonia offers comfortable and intimate accommodation that is relatively more spacious than those of larger cruisers. The navy palette of the cabins still retains a rich glow and appeal. There are about 20 interconnecting cabins in addition to cabins with upper berths and some other with Pullman beds.

[fa type=”cutlery”] Food

Adonia offers very limited places to eat, however it offers quality over quantity. The main dining hall, The Pacific Restaurant, offer meals without exact meal times. The menu items are highly British in influence and with little variation of world cuisine, however items are sumptuous and delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily except during port days where only breakfast and dinner are served. Other than the Pacific Restaurant, the buffet of the Conservatory Deck and the Lido Grill are two other free dining options. The only for-fee restaurant, the Ocean Grill by Dominican Chef Emil Vega might as well be an attraction as the food is both magnificent and beautiful. Room service is available however it comes with a $5 fee and is limited to breakfasts only.

The fitness centre has the necessities from weights to machines like treadmills and bikes. Classes are offered, including yoga, Pilates, stretching and meditation, which may sometimes be held in lounges to accommodate huge groups especially during peak periods.
