20 things you don’t know about Royal Princess

Princess Cruises has announced ’20 new things you don’t know about Royal Princess‘ at Cruise Shipping Miami this week ahead of her launch in June.

The 3,600-passenger vessel will host many firsts for the line including a Vegas-like top deck, a plus-size atrium, the highly-anticipated glass-bottomed SeaWalk, SeaView Bar and the largest-ever ‘Lotus Spa’.

1. On-demand stateroom entertainment

Passengers will be privy to a new generation of entertainment from the comfort of their stateroom with hundreds of complimentary on-demand movies, television shows and a live feed to Royal Princess’ ‘Princess Live!’ television studio.

2. Brand-new production shows

Four new production shows will be debuted aboard Royal Princess including: “Colours of the World” taking passengers on a journey through the destinations Princess Cruises visits; “Spectacular!”; “Sweet Soul Music”; and “What the World Needs Now” an elegant tribute to the 1960s.

3. A tea-lovers delight

A tea sommelier will guide passengers through a choice of 250 tea blends at the ‘Tea Tower’ located in the ship’s central Piazza.

With a choice of sampling pre-blended varieties or creating their own custom blends, passengers can take part in tea tasting events and the new ‘Royal Afternoon Tea Experience’.

4. Art and architecture tour

Passengers will be invited to take part in a self-guided tour of Royal Princess, using their smart phone or tablet, to take in 30 pieces of art. A QR code will be featured at each artwork detailing facts about the artist and the piece of art.

5. Outdoor art installation

Marine artist, Wyland, has been commissioned to create a custom piece of sea-inspired art that will be available for viewing on the top deck.

6. Bartenders get their “Cocktail” on

The innovative SeaView Bar will showcase the talents of the Royal Princess bartenders at midday and sunset with bottle-tossing and mixing the name of the game.

7. Whiskey tasting

Three different whiskey tastings will be featured in the ‘Wheelhouse Bar’ with passengers able to select from single malts, three “Glens” and more.

8. Pub lunch daily

The ‘Wheelhouse Bar’ will offer an English-style full pub lunch on sea days with fish and chips and a ploughman’s lunch on offer on port days.

9. Princess@Sea mobile intranet

Passengers will have access to daily updates about entertainment, onboard deals, weather and port news along with their onboard account, in the palm of their hand with the new Princess@Sea intranet available for download on smart phones or tablets.

10. ‘Royal Indulgence Package’ in The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary adults-only retreat will offer a ‘Royal Indulgence Package’ for four people priced at USD$3,000 that will offer all-day massages, gourmet food and beverages.

11. ‘Concierge Lounge’ for Suite guests

Suite guests will have access to the exclusive ‘Concierge Lounge’ that will offer full front desk services, light snacks and beverages.

Concierge staff will offer assistance with shore excursions, specialty dining or reservations at the ‘Lotus Spa’ with the lounge doubling up as a private disembarkation lounge for Suite guests.

12. Largest gelato menu at sea

Royal Princess’ new gelateria will feature a menu of eight flavours prepared by the ship’s pastry chef along with more than 20 toppings and sauces, sundaes, waffle cones and sweet crepes.

13. Sabatini’s bites with wine tasting

‘Vines’ wine bar on Deck 5 will now offer small sample bites of Italian restaurant ‘Sabatini’s’ menu to accompany its wine tasting. Samples will include dishes such as: Tuscan brochettes; beef carpaccio; and lamb chop lollipops.

14. Largest outdoor movie screen at sea

The innovator when it comes to ‘Movies Under the Stars’, Princess Cruises has announced that the screen aboardRoyal Princess will be 30 percent larger than her sister vessels and the largest at sea.
