Kimberley sailing expeditions in barefoot luxury

Be a part of Ponant history as its flagship luxury three-masted sailing yacht, Le Ponant, calls the Kimberley home for the first time in 2023.

Born out of a desire to create a more exclusive and unique experience for guests to journey through the remote and ancient Kimberley landscapes in luxury, the Le Ponant sailing experience has been meticulously crafted together with Australia’s prestigious Paspaley Group.

Le Ponant has been transformed to offer guests a truly unique travel experience. Having been entirely renovated with a sleek, sophisticated design by Jean-Philippe Nuel Studio, the result is an intimate setting with only 16 staterooms for a maximum of 32 guests, and a crew to passenger ratio of 1:1.

The yacht offers an invitation to sail and experience the wonders of The Kimberley on a journey that combines adventure and eco-responsibility.

Now fitted with the latest technical innovations, the ambition to reduce Le Ponant’s emissions is more relevant than ever.

Every element has been thoroughly thought through with meticulous attention to detail and a strong emphasis on tailoring the experience to the destination and focusing on local heritage. Everything has been designed with environmental and cultural protection in mind.

Join Ponant’s world-renowned expedition and naturalist experts in a breathtaking sailing environment, with shore landings aboard their four Zodiac boats. Ponant’s itineraries are flexible to make the most of the ancient landscapes, rich Aboriginal history, and unique wildlife.

The Kimberley coastline extends over 12,000 kilometres, harsh yet magnificent, inhabited for perhaps 40,000 years.

From the end of the Big Wet in March to best experience the power of the mighty rivers and waterfalls, through to observing migrating Humpback whales in September, a sailing expedition includes classic must-see Kimberley highlights – the Hunter River, King George Falls, Mitchell Falls, Montgomery Reef, and Horizontal Falls.

To add to your unique experience in the Kimberley, a number of Ponant’s itineraries offer an exclusive and private scenic flight onboard one of Paspaley’s vintage Grumman Mallard flying boats taking you from or to your embarkation point, as well as private access to Paspaley’s pearl operations in Kuri Bay – a never-before-seen offering in the Kimberley.

In addition to the itineraries together with Paspaley, Le Ponant will also be embarking on two exceptional expeditions visiting the Rowley Shoals – one of the world’s most spectacular diving and snorkelling locations, made up of three coral atolls.

This is the ultimate exploration in barefoot luxury, the Pinnacle Sailing Experience.
