Qantas announces menu upgrades for all flights

Qantas has announced its “bigger and better menu” across all international and domestic flights.

The lines promised that the multi-million dollar investment will mean new dishes, larger portions and higher quality ingredients, marking the largest investment into Qantas’s inflight and lounge dining in over a decade.

For a snapshot of the new dishes available for first-class passengers, you can start picture Calvisius Caviar on Buckwheat Blinis with Pepe Saya Crème Fraiche, Queensland Spanner Crab and Sweet Pork Salad with Green Mango, Crumbed Margra Lamb Cutlets with Lemon Myrtle Celeriac Puree and plenty more.

Those flying business can expect new dishes such as Seared Grasslands Beef Fillet with Café de Paris Butter, Bannockburn Free-range chicken Kyiv and Seared Snapper with Black Bean Sauce. Business dining will also be improved with a more substantial second meal on flights between Asia and Australia.

Those planning to fly premium economy can start counting down towards Salmon with Tomato Fennel Sauce, Red Quinoa and Brown Rice, and Braised Lamb Shank with Red Wine Mushroom Sauce and Potato Puree. Furthermore, there’s now also the offering of a starter salad and ice-cream service.

In economy, guests will also be treated to second meal dishes between Australia and Asia, as well as brand new dishes such as Cajun Prawns with Spiced Rice, Korean Chilli and Garlic Chicken with Kimchi and Black Pepper Beef with Oyster Mushrooms.

For those flying domestically, there’ll be an expanded range of light options on business class, new starter salads on business long flights and a confirmed continuation of the new domestic economy menu, which offers more variety, and vegetarian options for all meals.

Qantas Group Chief Customer Officer, Markus Svensson said: “Premium food and wine is one of the top three reasons our customers choose to fly with Qantas, so this significant boost means we will be able further our efforts to deliver a world-class experience in the sky.

“We are proud to work with established and emerging Australian food and wine producers to offer the best possible dining experience to our customers.”

Qantas also shared some fun facts about their plane food journey so far:

  • The Neil Perry signature steak sandwich with tomato and chilli relish is the one menu item that has been a constant on the Qantas First class inflight menu for the past 25 years.
  • Qantas serves more than 30,000 steak sandwiches each year worldwide.
