Princess sets new benchmark with Majestic entrance

Playing the theme song from The Love Boat on her foghorns, the Majestic Princess made a dramatic entry into the Italian port of Trieste tonight ready for her maiden voyage.

The 3560-passenger 330-metre ship left the she Italian yard she was built in just days ago, and is ready for a shakedown cruise – and Cruise Passenger is one of only two Australian news outlets to be on board.

With three main dining rooms, eight speciality restaurants, nine entertainment venues and a new livery, the ship will be in Europe until May, when she will reposition to her new home of Shanghai.

She has been designed with the Chinese market in mind, but also has the best of some of the more recent Princess ships, including an over ocean walkway and a chef’s table Lumiere, which surrounds diners with light.

Three-Michelin Star French Chef Emmanuel Renaut has developed the line’s new speciality restaurant – La Mer. Richard Chen, another Michelin Starred chef, will also have an outlet on board.

The 19-deck Majestc Princess will take passengers to Japan and other areas in the region.
