British cruise line Tradewind Voyages has cancelled its highly anticipated 2022/23 Australian summer season on the world’s largest sailing ship Golden Horizon
The line is instead willing Aussies to come abroad and sail on Golden Horizon in the Mediterranean or Caribbean in 2022 or 2023.
If not for restrictions, Golden Horizon was initially set to visit Australian shores as early as this December, before being deferred to 2022/23 and now, eventually cancelled.
The British echoed the thoughts of many cruise lines, noting that long-term planning was necessary to operate and market Australian voyages and with a lack of clarity over the the future of cruise in Australia, the tough decision had to be made.
In the coming months, Tradewind Voyages will release details of the Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons, which Australians will hopefully be able to access as outbound travel restrictions ease.

The planned Mediterranean voyages include visits across Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey. The smaller size of Golden Horizon also opens the door for her to visit less popular ports such at Sete and Cassis in France, Gallipoli in Italy and Korcula in Croatia.
