Sailing solo is about to become more stylish than ever after Cunard revealed its spectacular and luxurious new single cabins.
As part of the Queen Mary 2’s multi-million dollar refurbishment, the luxurious ship will be getting 15 new single cabins.
The new rooms will feature a single bed, small seating area and desk and inspired by the line’s iconic art deco heritage.
The single cabins will have a contemporary carpet pattern which is inspired by the original diamond design from the first Queen Mary.
“The number of cruisers choosing to travel alone is increasing and we continue to focus on expanding this market,” said Cunard’s Director, Angus Struthers.
“Having already been introduced on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, when our flagship re-enters service in June 2016 all three Cunard ships will offer single cabins.”
Nine of the 15 solo cabins will be on Deck 2 and six the larger single staterooms will be built on Deck 3L.
The larger cabins will feature two circular windows with bench seat cushions and a central console table.
The refurbishment also includes an additional 30 cabins to its Britannia Club which will have a dedicated Britannia Club Restaurant – ideal for those who are looking for a more intimate dining experience.
The kennels will also be expanded during the 25-day makeover which will being in May next year in Hamburg.
The Queens and Princess Grill suites and restaurants will be getting a fresh new look.
Cunard has appointed design firm SMC and managing director Andrew Collier said, “Cunard has a unique rich heritage in both the nautical and design fields and we have researched into these and looked to incorporate aspects of pattern and design into our plans.
“Particular attention has been paid to taking inspiration from the original Queen Mary and our aim is to enhance existing designs as well as implement a decorative overhaul, looking to emphasise the feeling of understated elegance.
“Clean lines and simple designs will instill as sense of glamour and relaxation. We are very excited to be part of the project to bring a new look and style for the world’s most famous ship.”
