Silver Explorer has left Darwin on the first of her eight voyages in the Kimbereley 2022 season.
The luxury cruise line has been kept out of Australian waters for more than two years, with Silversea holding a plaque exchange to celebrate the significance of the return.
Adam Radwanski, Silversea’s Managing Director for the Asia Pacific, says it’s a huge milestone for the line.
‘Silver Explorer’s inaugural sailing from Darwin marks a special moment for our cruise line, as our first sailing in more than two years in Australian waters.
“The Kimberley region is amongst the most treasured in the world. We are thrilled to offer Silversea’s unparalleled signature ultra-luxury expedition experience to our valued guests.”
However, the joy extends far beyond the line itself, with Nicole Manison, NT Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, also present at the plaque exchange.
Ms Manison said: “Cruise tourism provides a big boost to the Territory economy, and prior to COVID-19, cruise ships generated around $60 million of annual expenditure within the NT.
“We know cruise passengers spend at local businesses including retail outlets, cafes and restaurants while enjoying tourism experiences that showcase the Territory.
“The Northern Territory was the first jurisdiction in Australia to welcome back international expedition vessels, and we are delighted to host Silver Explorer and her guests.”
While Silver Explorer’s sailings are very close to sold out, there are still select cabins on some sailings.
Otherwise, there are other lines with some limited availability for last minute Kimberely voyages, including Ponant, True North and Coral Expeditions.
Ponant, still has some availability on a 14-night cruise from Broome to Bali, a brand new expedition cruise that goes through the Kimberely and all the way through to beautiful Bali, with staterooms beginning from $16,420.
