After lunch, we went ashore for a walk through San Sebastian de la Gomera. Unfortunately all the shops were closed due to the wonderful Spanish custom of taking a siesta. I for one think this should be adopted world wide: I love my afternoon naps.
The temperature was very hot and we found a lone open café where we sat with some other passengers and enjoyed a cold drink.
San Sebastian de la Gomera is famous for the ornate wooden balconies of its houses.
As usual, on our return to Seadream, we were welcomed at the top of the gangway with a cold hand towel and an even colder drink.
Each evening, after our cocktails and canapés in the lounge and before dinner, our cruise director gave a short lecture on what to expect at our next port of call. He was always informative, but I still would have liked more in-depth information.
Entertainment, by way of our resident pianist and guitarist, was provided in the Piano Bar, which is located next to the one-blackjack-table casino. Although I believe that some passengers occasionally played blackjack, I did not see anyone using the casino during the entire voyage. I believe the $10 minimum bet scared away many beginners.
The majority of passengers retired shortly after dinner. Free DVD movies, to be played in one’s cabin, were available from the reception.
