How to get a cruise for a dollar

Cruisers can expect to pick up some incredible bargains at the second National Cruise Week, beginning September 2.

MSC Cruises’ ‘take a friend for a dollar’ deal is just one among many offers during this year’s event, which Cruise Lines International Association general manager Brett Jardine expects to be bigger and better than ever.

Running from 2-9 September, up to 30 cruise lines have designed exclusive discounts for the event and for the first time this year specialist cruise wholesalers have also stepped in to provide cruise, air and accommodation packages.

Scores of agencies are organising special events for customers, including morning tea and get togethers so they can meet with a cruise expert. The events are listed on the National Cruise Week website at nationalcruiseweek.com.au.

  1. I have an absolute passion for cruising. I hadn’t had a cruise for 5 years. We went on Celebrity Solstice April, 2013 Syd – Hawaii. I had pain in my shoulders and hips before we went, had a blood test the doctor was supposed to ring me with the results. He never did, I went on the cruise, it was only 4 days in my pain was unbearable, when we got to Noumea, I found a pharmacy who sold me something like panadol forte. I struggled every day, after sitting in the dining room I could scarcely stand and walk. It was a painful cruise, I feel like I didn’t have a holiday at all. On my return, I found I had near liver failure, I have a 4 diagnosis. After a bone scan, I have poly arthritis and burstitis. I’m treating it all naturally now. I have literally been to hell barely being able to walk, I need a holiday desparately, this offer sounds incredible.

  2. I Am A Full-Time Carer For My Mum And Disabled Brother I Would Love To Take Them On A Dollar Cruise As My Brother Has Never Been On A Real Holiday And Never Been On A Cruise So It Would Be Fantastic To Go All Together On A Trip !!! Thank-You For The Chance!!!!!

  3. Well my husband & I love cruises & it will be our 22 nd aniversary . We really need a break & cannot afford it this year . This deal looks too good to be true , but if it is genuine then I actually need 2 tickets ! X

  4. My wife & I have both had serious health scares in the last month or so, and we feel we deserve a cruise to celebrate coming through virtually unscathed.
