The new ride Royal Caribbean introduced to Mariner of the Seas, which caused a serious accident to one passenger recently, has been shut down pending a final decision on its future.
Sky Pad, a trampoline bungee ride, was in the spotlight after a man fell and fractured his pelvis in February. A video of the event received thousands of views.
The ride, which is on two of Royal Caribbean’s ships, is a new addition. The line will be investigating its viability in the wake of a lawsuit filed by the man who fell.

“As part of our commitment to safety, we are temporarily taking Sky Pad out of service on Mariner of the Seas and Independence of the Seas,” said the line in a Twitter response to USA Today.
The move comes after Casey Holladay, 26, fell from the ride on Mariner of the Seas. His attorney, Brett Rivkind told USA Today he is seeking US$10 million in damages.
According to the suit, Mr Holladay said he was on a weekend cruise to the Bahamas on Mariner of the Seas in February 2019 when he plunged to the ship’s deck after the harness he was fastened to disconnected. He alleges he was 20 feet in the air.
The suit states the activity was located on the 13th deck of the cruise ship, which has a hard surface with no padding or safety nets around it.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S District Court in Miami on March 12.
