Revealed: Seabourn’s art attack

The Seabourn Ovation has unveiled an amazing art collection – the latest luxury cruise liner to offer passengers a cultural experience as their cruise.

Scheduled to launch in May 2018, and sister-ship to the Seabourn EncoreSeabourn Ovation will offer 300 newly-designed suites and an extensive art collection.

A team from ArtLink, which works with 125 hospitality industry clients from hotels to cruise ships, collected over 1,600 artworks by nearly 120 artists for Seabourn Ovation.

Sourced on five continents, the artworks and craftworks are windows to the world’s different climate zones, its flora, fauna and habitat.

The move by Seabourn is the latest foray into art by cruise companies. Oceania and Regent Seven Seas have featured art works by Picasso, Chagall and others. Other ocean lines and river cruise companies now feature works by well-known artists as part of the cruise experience.

Seabourn employed renowned interior designer Adam D. Tihany to create its newest vessel’s style and furnishings.

“Seabourn’s discerning guests certainly appreciate sophisticated design and beautiful artwork chosen to complement it,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. “We’ve worked with Adam and the ArtLink team to bring a large collection of sophisticated, fresh pieces together.”

The latest luxury launch comes as the sector is enjoying enormous growth – with rival lines like Regent Seven Seas, Silversea, and Oceania all expecting new vessels or marketing recently launched ships.

Seabourn Ovation’s suites will be characterised by contemporary design, private balconies, and in-room art displays.

Seabourn Ovation promises passengers plush upholstered headboards, maritime-style chrome hardware, and deliberately personal touches. Premium suites include personalised service by a dedicated Guest Service Manager.

The gourmet dining experience aboard Seabourn includes local specialities and additions by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller, and wellness enhancements by Dr. Andrew Weil.

With its smallest Veranda suite at 300 sq. ft., and its largest Signature Suite at 977 sq. ft., each space will provide an expansive living area, and an array of entertainment options.
