Regent Seven Seas Cruises has unveiled 65 “unique” excursions to mark the inaugural season of the line’s latest super-luxurious ship, Seven Seas Splendor when she sails on her maiden voyage in February 2020.
For the first time, guests will be able to watch a fiery flamenco performance deep down in the bowels of the vast Agrupoa Vicenta Mine in Spain.
The village of Parque Minero was mined more than 2000 years ago and the acoustics underground are “excellent” for flamenco and the soulful instrumental guitar music synonymous with southern Spain, said RSSC.
The specially curated shore excursions debuting next year will also include a helicopter ride over the gorgeous countryside outside of Monaco to dine at La Bastide de Moustiers, created by the famed French chef Alain Ducasse or learn how to cook Scottish cuisine which is more than just haggis under the tutelage of a master chef in Greenock, Scotland.
“We collaborated with the best local tour operators in the region to curate unique and memorable experiences that will result in a truly unrivalled experience for guests sailing on Seven Seas Splendor’s inaugural season,” said Jason Montague, president and chief executive of the line.
“Many of these excursions are being offered for the first time by our tour operator partners and are new for luxury travellers. With nearly half of these experiences included in Regent’s Free Unlimited Shore Excursions program, our new offerings are one more example of how Seven Seas Splendor will perfect luxury.”
Already, Splendor’s maiden 14-night voyage from Barcelona to Miami on February 6 is sold out with a growing waiting list for her 375 magnificent suites.
Guests will also be able to tour a centuries-old wine estate in Corfu, Greece and sample wines paired with organic delicacies. They will then be taken for a picturesque drive into the interior of Corfu and walk through the vineyards with one of the owners and sample two of the grapes grown at Ambelonas – the red skopelitiko and white kakotrygis.
In Naples, they can experience the exclusive visit to marvel The Seven Works of Mercy by Caravaggio with Mount Vesuvius looming in the background. Guests will then have lunch at the 100-year-old restaurant La Bersagliera, a lovely waterfront restaurant. However, guest will have to pay US$229 per person for this excursion.
And if well heeled guests would like to go on a mussel tasting tour by speed boat, RSSC has organised a cruise through the beautiful Boka Bay in Montenegro to the islet Our Lade of the Rocks. Here they can sample freshwater mussels at a farm. For the uninitiated, Boka Bay is renown for producing Monetenegro’s finest mussels. Cost of the excursion: US$129 per person.
For more active guests, they can hop on an electric bike tour of French vineyards and discover the enchanting village of La Cadiere dAzur in France and the Bandol region and sample a selection of characteristic wines and savour fougasse, a crusty Provenval flat bread whose origins date to Roman times. The excursion cost US$199 per person.
