Princess Cruises’ largest Australian based ship, Majestic Princess will be leaving our waters for America.
The line, which lays claim to being Australia’s largest and most popular, announced that the ship will be sailing from Los Angeles from September 2021, through to April 2022, signalling she will not return for the Australian 2021/22 wave season.
In a press statement, the line announced that Majestic Princess will be sailing to Mexico, as well as destinations along the California Coast, from her new homeport during the American fall and spring.
Princess has been heavily promoting the fact that the Regal Princess and Majestic – two of the line’s newest vessels – will be here at the same time, giving Australian Princess passengers unprecedented access to its Royal class fleet.
Princess Cruises would not reveal its plans for any of its other ships when asked by Cruise Passenger.
“With regards to Majestic Princess, one of the benefits of the cruise industry is that our assets are moveable. Majestic Princess will be moving to North America for the first time to give North American guests an opportunity to experience this Royal-class ship and her unique features. Details around ships sailing from Australia will be announced later this year,” said a spokesperson from a Princess Cruises.
It appears, another Aussie favourite, Sapphire Princess will also not return for the 2021/22 season.
According to the Princess Cruises website, the Sapphire Princess departs Sydney 11 May 2021 and she will sail through Asian ports like Bali in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai in China, before sailing around Japan.
She departs Asia in June 2021 before spending a season in Alaskan waters.
Like the Majestic Princess, she too will start voyages from Los Angeles. She will then sail around South America where she will also visit Antarctica from September 2021 to March 2022.

Cruises to Mexico
Majestic Princess and Discovery Princess (in Spring 2022) debut at the Port of Los Angeles, offering 25 cruises to the Mexican Riviera, including seven-day options to ports including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.
Ruby Princess returns as San Francisco hometown ship to offer three, 10-day cruises to the Mexican Riviera from the Port of San Francisco, offering a memorable sail away under the Golden Gate Bridge. Guests will visit Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta.
In addition, Grand Princess and Sapphire Princess will sail seven, 10-day Baja Peninsula & Sea of Cortez voyages, visiting Cabo San Lucas (overnight), La Paz, Loreto, and Puerto Vallarta, roundtrip from Los Angeles.
Cruises to the Hawaiian Islands
With two homeports offering 15-day roundtrip cruises to Hawaii, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, guests can choose their perfect itinerary island-hopping to Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and Hilo on Grand Princess and Sapphire Princess (Los Angeles) or Ruby Princess (roundtrip San Francisco).
Cruises to the California and Pacific Northwest Coasts
Princess Cruises offers two homeports from which to explore the relaxed lifestyle and scenic beauty of the California and Pacific Northwest Coasts.
Sailing seven-day cruises from Los Angeles onboard Discovery Princess and Majestic Princess and seven-day cruises from San Francisco aboard Ruby Princess, the ships will visit San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Monterey. Shorter, three-to five-day cruises also highlight these coastal towns as well as Ensenada, Mexico.
There is also a seven-day cruise from San Francisco on Ruby Princess that visits the cities in the Pacific Northwest including Astoria and Seattle.

The Royal Princess leaves Vancouver on August 28, 2021, to Anchorage then sails across to Japan for about 11 days before heading to Singapore where she will arrive on October 03, 2021. (I know because I am booked on these cruises). According to the Cruise Ship Schedule for Sydney the “Royal” will be arriving in Sydney on November 04.
Will she be replacing the “Majestic” for the 2021/2022 summer season ?????
Booking the Love Princess……at home
I’m booked on the Sapphire Princess sailing out of Melbourne on the 9th February 2021, To New Zealand and returning to Melbourne. I would like confirmation that this cruise is still happening at that time before I go ahead and book anymore off shore excursions.
Good the Yanks are welcome to Majestic Princess in my book. We had a NZ Cruise and was far from impressed with the exception of the crew.
Very disappointing to see travel agents taking a 12.5 percent commission on Princess Line refunds.
Our travel agent charged us $479 for what would have been no more than 2 hours work – at the most.
Would love to have some feedback on this.
What message have we Australians sent to one of the best Cruise Lines sailing out of Australian waters.
Are we, the loyal passengers, to pay for the mistakes that NSW Health and other department made in regards to the Ruby Princess.
Those that sail with Princess on a regular basis know that the welfare of their passengers is paramount.
We are booked on the Sea Princess Adelaide to Adelaide, voyage NO C021, on 16th November 2020 to Brisbane (14 days) via all Australian Ports. Is this cruise still going to happen ??
The Sapphire has not even worked from Australia yet, so we will only get her for the one season. Hope we get a good ship as a replacement!

So sad to hear that two new ships are leaving Australian waters . Hope they will come back on a later date.
I’m hoping that we will be able to travel in 2021
To the best of my knowledge the CDC has not yet approved any sailings and as our Border appears to be closed for another year or two and Princess is in the game to make money I can understand why they have chosen to shift their assets (currently liabilities) to ports that may permit sailing.
