Princess Cruises has named its fourth Royal-class cruise ship, Sky Princess which will debut on the Mediterranean in October next year.
The 143,700-ton, 3660-passenger ship is currently being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone and will feature a central Piazza-style atrium, the adults-only Sanctuary, Camp Discovery youth and teen centres and Princess Live! Entertainment venue. There will be new dining venues including the Salty Dog Grill, Slice, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, Vines Wine Bar, Chef’s Table Lumiere and World Fresh Marketplace. Sky Princess will also have the outdoor movie theatre and 80 per cent of its staterooms will have balconies.
The ship’s inaugural season in the Mediterranean will feature itineraries including a seven-day Rome roundtrip, a 7-day Barcelona to Rome cruise and a 14-day Western Mediterranean Medley voyage. Princess has also announced that 2019 season will focus on European itineraries for its fleet including Pacific Princess returning to Greenland, Crown Princess cruising out of Dublin, Sapphire Princess in search of the Northern Lights in Norway and the longest cruise season out of Southampton in the UK. “The 2019 season features five ships sailing to 130 destinations from the corners of the Mediterranean to the northernmost tip of Europe,’’ said Stuart Allison, vice president Princess Cruises Australia and New Pacific.
