Virgin Voyages has released a preview of their “RockStar” suites on their first cruise ship, Scarlet Lady, which debuts in 2020.
The line is deliberately drip-feeding information about the Scarlet Lady to keen interest high. First, we saw the interiors then the food menu. Now we can get a peek at the suites on the ship which will sail the Caribbean in her inaugural voyage.
The ship’s 78 “RockStar” suites are designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio and inspiration was drawn from rock and roll style icons and classic yacht design.
The suites on Scarlet Lady will be divided into eight categories, from the 2,150-square-foot “Massive Suite” that sleeps six, down to the 355-square-foot “Seriously Suite”.
Every RockStar suite is furnished with European king-sized beds, as well as upgraded bath amenities. Suite guests will also have exclusive access to top-deck lounge, Richard’s Rooftop.
The Massive Suites, the two largest suites onboard, will have a rock music theme that includes music rooms stocked with guitars and an amplifier.
Every suite will also feature a vinyl turntable and a collection of classic records, a nod to the rock and roll heritage of Branson’s Virgin Group. The Massive Suite gets a one-up with a gold-plated version of it.
At the centre of each suite is also a circular oversized couch designed for conversation and cocktails from the suite’s adjacent in-room bar, and its expansive balcony also houses a hot tub.
The suites also feature mood lighting that automatically adjusts to match the time of day. The lighting can also be adjusted to guests’ preferences through a tablet.
Guests can also find bold design elements on the adults-only ship, such as champagne tables, hammocks and outdoor showers.
All 78 suites will be housed on the top deck of Scarlet Lady and they all have private balconies for the best ocean views.
The suite class onboard Scarlet Lady will be getting a ‘wardrobe team’ and ‘Rockstar Coordinator’ in place of butlers and other perks like complimentary pressing and nightly express swimsuit drying services.
Suite guests will also get early entry to onboard entertainment and restaurants.
Mr Dixon was also tasked with throwing out traditional cliches of luxury on cruise ships and bringing “rebellious luxe” to life at sea.
