Uniworld to launch a new luxury ship paying homage to a French queen

Uniworld’s, will launch its latest river ship S.S. Antoinette, the next generation of vessels for the luxury cruise market, next month at the start of the official European season.

Its new Super Ship, S.S. Antoinette, will be Uniworld’s largest ship length-wise. (JP: height is restricted due to low bridges and small locks throughout Europe).

There will be top deck suites and staterooms with full open-air private balconies, which convert to enclosed conservatories; and a 20-seat cinema with state-of-the-art flat-screen Dolby surround sound.

Its sun deck will feature Red Carnation Hotels’ famous Leopard Lounge with its unique, leopard print carpeting,elephant-head bar rails and many other jungle-like touches. Another plus will be the Restaurant le Versailles, which captures the essence of the great gardens of Versailles. (The Red Carnation Hotel Group is part of the Uniworld Group).

Arranged throughout the ship, is a collection of carefully selected original art: sketches in black and white, color lithographs and oil-on-canvas paintings from a range of great artists. The “S.S.” stands for “Super Ship”, and the company has added many details and amenities to capture this “super” name. For example, a blue Strauss 10-foot Baccarat chandelier with massive sapphires, originally hanging in New York’s historic Tavern on The Green restaurant, graces the two-story lobby.

The S.S. Antoinette will sail the ‘Castles Along the Rhine’ and ‘Rhine Holiday Markets’ itineraries.

John Molinaro, general manager, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, commented: “The highly anticipated SS Antoinette has again raised the bar in luxury boutique river cruising. From the moment they step on-board this highly customised vessel, guests will understand why she has been placed in a class of her own.

“We have worked hard to ensure our guests enjoy every comfort and premier amenity available with no request too large, no detail too small. This, combined with her impressive green credentials, proves once again we are the innovators in European river cruising.  We look forward to the arrival of our newest vessel, due to set sail along the popular Castles Along the Rhine itinerary, in March. There is no doubt in my mind that the SS Antoinette will be the most spectacular river cruise ship in Europe.”
