Australians looking for love can apply for a new reality TV show, The Real Love Boat inspired by the much-loved series, The Love Boat, which was set on the now-retired, MS Pacific Princess.
CBS and Network Ten are behind the show, set to take place on a Princess cruise to the Mediterranean – with the “captain” and “cruise director” playing important roles in the matchmaking process.
There won’t be any intruders but similar to Big Brother – surprise singles will join the cruise to test the couples’ “compatibility and chemistry”.
After close to a month at sea, one couple will make it to the final port and take home a cash prize and a once-in-a-lifetime trip courtesy of Princess Cruises.
The Love Boat made huge stars for the cast, and when “Captain” Gavin MacLeod visited Australia, he was treated like a rock star.
The Love Boat was produced by Aaron Spelling, whose company was later purchased by Viacom — eventually leading to the “Love Boat” IP being owned by CBS Studios. CBS and Network 10 are now Paramount Global brands.
