LIVE: We’re on board P&O’s Pacific Explorer with Rosie Jacobs

Australia’s Cruise Industry is back up and sailing – P&O Australia’s flagship Pacific Explorer departed from Sydney tonight on its first guest cruise following the restart of cruising in Australia, and not even the windy weather could dampen spirits.

Rosie Jacobs is on board to record the historic cruise to Brisbane – Pacific Explorer will on Thursday become the first cruise ship to berth at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal and she will arrive on the cruise line’s 90th anniversary of sailing Australian waters.

President of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia Marguerite Fitzgerald said: “Today is an emotional moment in time for so many people who have looked forward to the resumption of cruise operations in Australia and the rebirth of the $5 billion a year cruise industry.”

Here are Rose Jacobs live reports from the ship…

Rosie checked out the spa aboard P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Explorer this morning.
