Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson has been named godmother of Norwegian Cruise Lines’ newest ship, Norwegian Encore, due to debut in Miami in November.
The honour of the role of godmother was today presented to Ms Clarkson during her newly syndicated daytime show “The Kelly Clarkson Show” for NBCUniversal.
Ms Clarkson accepted the role and said “I am so honoured to be named the godmother to Norwegian Encore and to get to be part of such a special ceremony to christen the new ship in Miami,” referring to the ceremony in Miami on Thursday 21st November when she will fulfil the longstanding maritime tradition of blessing and officially naming the Norwegian Encore.
Ms Clarkson added “I believe that surrounding yourself with the ones you love and taking time for them is important while having the most amazing and unforgettable vacation, which is what Norwegian Cruise Line stands for and provides for its guests.”
President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, Andy Stuart said, “We knew we wanted someone who represents our core values. Kelly is a role model who is passionate about family and community, as well as music and entertainment. These are our passions too!”
Launching this spring, Norwegian Encore will offer seven-day voyages to the Eastern Caribbean from Miami beginning November 24th as well as New England, Bermuda and Canada itineraries for 2020.
Taking the brand’s existing features to the next level, the new ship will feature the world’s longest race track at sea at 335 metres with curves extending over the side of the ship, the largest outdoor laser tag arena and new immersive interactive theatre experiences in the 930m2 Galaxy Pavillion.
Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots” will headline the onboard entertainment and upgraded dining and restaurant experiences will be offered with elevated Italian restaurant, Onda by Scarpetta.
Along with the launch of her new show, Clarkson has recently released her critically acclaimed Grammy nominated eighth studio album “meaning of Life” and now boasts worldwide sales of more than 36 million singles to her name.
