Coral Expeditions confirmed for Tasmanian summer season

Coral Expeditions, the Australian flagged and crewed line sailing despite the pandemic, has been given the green light by Tasmanian officials for its 2021 Tasmanian season.

The season will kick off December 26, as Coral Discoverer makes her way down south, trailing the Sydney to Hobart race. The aptly-named Yachtmans Cruise departs Sydney on 26 December, 2020 and arrives in Hobart on New Year’s Eve just in time for fireworks overlooking the harbour precinct.

Jeff Gillies, Commercial Director at Coral Expeditions said: “We are very pleased to receive approvals from the state authorities to operate…The Tasmanian season is another positive step towards building confidence for our business as we return from the challenges of 2020.”

The small ship will carry a maximum of 60 Australian passengers on each of its eight expeditions.

Following a sold-out Tasmanian circumnavigation, a series of six 10-night Coastal Wilds of Tasmania and Coastal Treks expeditions will operate out of Hobart from mid January.

The voyages will explore the coastal landscape of the Southern Ocean.

Guest will have access to World Heritage wilderness areas and glimpses of native wildlife in coastal National Parks that are otherwise difficult to get to by road.

Throughout the voyage, local experts will share intriguing maritime history and compelling convict heritage of the island state.

Coral Expeditions are also offering flexible booking terms including deposit protection and transfer across all voyages.

The Coral Discoverer scheduled departures are as follows:

  • A Yachtsman’s Cruise 6-night expedition departs Sydney 26 December 2020.
  • Circumnavigation of Tasmania 16-night expedition departs Hobart 1 January 2021.
