Chinese bound Wonder of the Seas, soon to be the largest ship in the world floats out

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas, soon to be the world’s largest ship has floated out.

The new ship which is currently now in the water at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France, was floated out on 5 September.

She’ll now undergo an extensive fitting-out process where her interior spaces will be built and furnished.

With capacity for over 5,500 passengers, she will eclipse her sister ship, ship, Symphony of the Seas to take the title of the world’s largest ship.

While she was confirmed to enter service in 2021, her debut will be pushed back to 2022.

Wonder of the Seas, when she is finished, will service the Chinese market with a number of sailings around Asia.

The ship will have seven of Royal Caribbean’s signature neighbourhoods like the Royal Promenade, Central Park, Boardwalk, Entertainment Zone, Youth Centre, Sports Zone as well as Wellness Complex.

With 28 more staterooms than Symphony of the Seas, she will also have a redesigned boardwalk area as well as a new two-level RCI Family Suite. On Symphony of the Seas, there is a slide from the second level to the ground floor.

Royal Caribbean was also forced to suspend the launch of Odyssey of the Seas, which was due to set sail in November 2020.

Odyssey of the Seas which was set to sail its maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas and Caribbean in November, but the sailing has been pushed back until April 2021.

  1. Very bad timing eh. The way things are, and will be for some time, this monster will never reach its capaCITY!! Certainly would not cruise on her. I have moved to small ship cruising. May be more $$$ but its certainly a more naughtical experience.
