Currently on a dry dock in Singapore, Pacific Encounter will come home with more family fun than ever, being fitted with a brand new 142-metre-long Twin-Racer waterslide and 55-metre zipline.
P&O shared images of the big blue waterslides going from its construction yard to its brand new home atop deck 16, hoisted above the sea.
P&O Cruises’ Maritime Operations, Technical Director, Ken O’Callaghan says all is looking well as construction moves forward.
“We’re just over halfway through our statutory drydock and everything is going to schedule.
“Together with the incredible team at Sembcorp, we have over 500 people working across the ship at any one time to ensure we get Pacific Encounter back to Australia in perfect order, ready for our guests to once again enjoy.”
Beyond the new slides and zipline, there’s plenty of other improvements coming as well. Pacific Encounter will alos be getting a new outdoor movie screen and sound system, improved WiFi thanks to new satellite dishes, improved stabilisers and navigation systems and upgrades to their Life Saving Appliance.
Following the upgrades, Pacific Encounter will take a repositioning cruise back to Brisbane, once returned to her homeport she’ll recommence sailing a range of itineraries out of Brisbane, with destinations spanning Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
