Pacific Jewel Facts
Launched: Originally 1991 cruising for AIDA, then became Ocean Village Two in 2007......
MS Hanseatic
A voyage to the frozen south is infinitely more comfortable when you cruise on MS Hanseatic, the world’s highest-rated expedition ship.
Suite Life on Rhapsody, Day 7
Our first family cruise is coming to an end and I have to say it’s been a hit. Who would have thought kids would like bingo and trivia contests?
Suite Life on Rhapsody, Day 6
We’re back at sea after two days in New Caledonia and back into sea-faring routine, which, to my surprise, is just as enjoyable to the kids as a day on the most beautiful beach in the world.
Suite Life on Rhapsody, Day 5
We’re woken this morning to the sound of the tenders being lowered from beneath our balcony, ready to take us ashore to the Isle of Pines.
Suite Life on Rhapsody Day 4
Noumea! After days of agonizing over the vast array of shore excursions, I finally decide on none (I’m even worse with menus).
Volendam
Volendam is a ship boasting a garden theme with flowers found in abundance throughout the ship in one form or other. ....
Staying safe while touring on shore
There have been a few incidents involving cruise ship passengers which have brought safety......
Suite Life on Rhapsody, Day 3
We’re starting to get the hang of cruising and have even formed ourselves a routine, or at least starting to see the need for one. For as far as you can see in every direction there is water, which varies in colour from dark grey to dark blue.
Suite Life on Rhapsody, Day 2
After a long day waiting to leave Sydney, our first day sailing is all about figuring out how the whole thing works. Activities, kids’ clubs and meal times – how do we actually find all these things?
Celebrity Eclipse
What sets Eclipse apart from her sisters? Celebrity Eclipse is the third of five sister ships in Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class fleet, but a brace of brand-new features sets her apart from her siblings. Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class ships are large but their design and décor are elegant; intimate rather than overtly sumptuous. Colours are never garish but there’s lots of ‘wow factor’, especially in areas such as the Tuscan Grille, The Lawn Club and AquaSpa by Elemis.
Rhapsody of the Seas Review
When the ship is as important as the destination... I believe all cruise ships are beautiful; some more than others. It’s a matter of comparing many factors. When my wife Sandra and I boarded Rhapsody of the Seas, we were a little disappointed at not being able to obtain a balcony stateroom, but we became pleased with our large Oceanview stateroom, with its picture window and more room than the usual balcony stateroom. Our cruise was headed north and we were looking forward to 10 days of R&R.
Best cruise ports for shopping – Part 1
Shopping in port is one of our favourite pastimes. Here’s Cruise Passenger’s guide to finding the world’s best buys.
Suite life on Rhapsody, Day 1
Day 1 on Rhapsody of the Seas was longer than I had planned, and while it involved boarding a big and exciting cruise ship it largely involved sitting in Circular Quay.
Day 3: Allure of the seas, inaugural cruise
Day 3: Thanksgiving. Ever heard of Turkey Pardon? No, nor had we, so we are compelled to wander down to the Royal Promenade (Deck 5) at midday to find out – after a tough morning testing the spa that’s suspended over the Caribbean Sea.
Day 2, continued: Allure of the Seas, inaugural voyage
The ship gleams with newness and cleanness during the day and sparkles and glitters by night.
