Australia’s small ship pioneer Coral Expeditions will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a one-time only circumnavigation of Australia onboard its new flagship, the Coral Adventurer.
The 60-day voyage will depart from Darwin on 7 November 2020 and visit 35 places of significant maritime and cultural heritage that have shaped Australia, many of which are difficult to reach by land.
They include visiting the pre-historic Stromatolites on the coast of WA, immersive explorations of Indigenous history at the Wessels Islands and Arnhem Land, excursions to key sites of the famous voyages of Captain James Cook in 1770 and Phillip Parker King in 1820 and the crossing of the Great Australian Bight with excursions to the rarely seen Archipelago of the Recherche.
“It is a significant milestone, an ambitious adventure and is in keeping with our spirit as pioneers of the expedition experience,’’ says Mark Fifield, group general manager of Coral Expeditions.
Highlights of the voyage will include celebrating Christmas with a special dinner under the stars at Uluru where guests will disembark in Cairns and be whisked away by private jet to Uluru. They will jet back the same evening to Cairns to rejoin the ship.
There will also be a private winemakers dinner at the Leeuwin Estate vineyards in WA.
Australian Geographic, expedition partners with Coral, will enhance the educational talks on board and shore excursions with guest lecturers and experts.
The 120-passenger Coral Adventurer has been purpose-built for expedition cruising and will have special lightweight tenders for shore excursions.
The epic journey will call at Fremantle, Adelaide, Hobart, Sydney and Cairns.
