P&O announces new eateries onboard the Pacific Explorer

P&O’s new ship, the Pacific Explorer will have some fantastic new dining options.

The line revealed earlier this week that they have partnered with Melbourne-based pizza maker Johnny Di Francesco who will have his own eatery onboard.

Continuing his partnership with P&O, Luke Mangan and P&O have created a new dining concept called Luke’s. Serving gourmet burgers, it’s a more casual setting from Salt Grill’s fine dining menu of top grade steaks and intricate seafood dishes.

President of P&O Cruises Sture Myrmell said Pacific Explorers will have their tastebuds tantalised by the new dining options.

“The past two years have seen the evolution of our cruise product with all our ships now offer great food and wine options and a contemporary look and feel. We’re very excited to be taking the next step on Pacific Explorer with our new burger and pizza offerings, which reflects the trends towards casual gourmet dining on land,” he said.

“Australians love Salt Grill by Luke Mangan on our existing ships, so we’re looking forward to giving them a new way to enjoy Luke’s talent, with al fresco dining at Luke’s on Pacific Explorer. It’s going to offer a modern, relaxed setting, providing a great backdrop for some seriously delicious gourmet burgers – including Luke’s Chicken Confidential burger which is making waves in Sydney at the moment.”

But don’t worry folks, if you’re a fan of Salt Grill, you’ll still be able to indulge in Luke’s beautiful dishes. The ‘Taste of Salt’ dinner at the ship’s Chef’s Table is a indulgent seven-course degustation meal including some of Luke’s most famous dishes as well as matching wines.

Pacific Explorer will also have the new pizzeria, 400 Gradi which is overseen by the famous Melbourne pizza chef Johnny Di Francesco. He was the winner of the Best Pizza in the World award in 2014. 400 Gradi will be serving up more than a dozen types of Italian Neapolitan pizzas along with charcuterie boards, olives, cheeses and salads.

The line has also partnered with the bespoke gin makers from Archie Rose Distillery to create a bar dedicated to lovers of the spirit.
