Marooma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya is the new home to a Curtis Stone restaurant. Woodend will become the new hotel’s signature restaurant.
The menu is based around wood-fired cuisine, fitting the energy of the beachside location. The recently renovated hotel will return to operation in August, with Woodend as its new major attraction.
Guests will enjoy seasonal dishes made on an open fire, influenced by Yucatan and the history of its cuisine. Curtis Stone will take influence will take the shape of freshly caught seafood, Latin marinades, traditional sauces and more.
Tara Bernerd’s design pays tribute to the traditional palapa roof, a cultural touchpoint in Yucatan. The bamboo ceiling brings insulation and warmth, complimenting the wood fired cooking.
Curtin Stone says: “Mexico has such a rich culinary heritage of passing recipes down through generations, which is something I value greatly.
“My grandmothers, who are the namesakes of my California restaurants. Both played a significant role in my culinary education and shared many of their traditions with me that I still use in my cooking today.
“Becoming inspired by the surrounding area, its ingredients, and the local traditions in such a treasured playground is an incredibly exciting opportunity, and I’m looking forward to sharing this new dining experience with Maroma’s guests very soon.”
Maroma is already host to three other restaurants and bars. Woodend by Curtis Stone adds to Casa Mayor, Freddy’s Bar and Bambuco.
Reservations have opened for Rosewood Munich, the first property in Germany for the luxurious Rosewood brand. Reservations can be made from September 29 onwards.
The new property marks the 7th hotel in Europe for Rosewood and 32nd overall.
